8/13/96 -- The Windows Network Establishes Internet Presence. The Windows Network is a low cost provider of internet services. Including remote access, email, web server, ftp server, and audio. The Windows Network uses Microsoft technology for the best integration with Windows operating systems. Users don't need to write any scripts to logon, they can use the dial-up networking built in to Windows 95 and Windows NT. Users can copy files to their home directory for web publishing or FTP distribution using normal file copy procedures. Technologies that will be supported in the future include remote access data encryption, video server, PPTP, and Multilink connections using several devices at once to increase bandwidth.
